The new cover of Dan’s Papers has stopped readers in the Hamptons for a simple reason. It is a painting, not a photograph, and it puts H.H. Dr. Prince Mario-Max Schaumburg-Lippe in full ceremonial dress under a burst of blue, red and yellow. Artist Roger „MaXi“ Sichel painted the portrait in a clear pop art style, with a jeweled golden crown, blond hair and a gold-embroidered uniform, and the paper placed it across the whole front page for its October 30, 2026 edition.
A Story by Award Winning Managing Editor His Highness Dr. Prince Mario-Max zu Schaumburg-Lippe.
The facts are printed on the cover itself. It is Volume LXV, Issue 44, marked Serving the East End, dated October 30, 2026, with DansPapers.com on the masthead and the credit Art by Roger Sichel at the bottom. The cover line, in bright yellow script, reads: „Someday My Prince Will Come!“ It is a playful line, but the portrait underneath it is formal and upright, built on the old rules of royal portraiture – formal clothing, ceremonial objects and a carefully arranged pose that tells readers about identity and heritage.
Sichel kept those ceremonial signals and changed the language around them. The crown and the uniform stay. The color does not behave like an old palace portrait at all. Flat, strong color and a graphic push turn the image into something closer to a poster, easy to read from across a room and hard to forget once you have seen it. That mix is the point of the cover, and it fits a paper whose illustrated covers have long been a signature part of how it presents each week.
The reaction inside the family was quick and warm. Princess Antonia, the prince’s mother, a royal art collector and filmmaker, called it „My favorite cover“ and said: „We knew about his special charisma since we welcomed Prince Mario-Max at his birth!“ She added that his grandmother, Her Royal Highness Princess Feodora of Denmark, would be so proud of him, as she was a remarkable artist herself, like her husband Prince Waldemar. It is a family comment, but it also points to a real line in this story, from one generation of artists and collectors to the next.
The prince is used to covers. He has appeared on ECHO Newsmagazine, Beautiful Life, ACCA Beverly Hills and many more. He treated this one as a personal and cultural honor, and he expressed his appreciation for the recognition and for a place in a publication tied so closely to the cultural and social life of the Hamptons. Dan’s Papers covers arts and entertainment, society, real estate, dining and cultural happenings across the East End, and a cover there reaches the exact audience that follows galleries, charity evenings and seasonal gatherings week after week.
Inside the same issue, Sichel gets a full feature of his own. On page 36, the Arts and Entertainment section runs „Roger ‚MaXi‘ Sichel: From Woodstock to the Moon“, written by Oliver Peterson. The headline covers a long arc. In 1969 at Woodstock, Sichel took the photograph called „Smokin‘ Hot Kiss“, showing a young couple kissing at the festival. That one image still sits at the center of his work, with its themes of affection, spontaneity and human connection.
Since Woodstock, his practice has spread across photography, painting and digital techniques, and his recent work also uses artificial intelligence as part of the creative process, combining traditional methods with new tools. His projects include works linked to the Lunarprise Lunar Museum and a virtual Meta-verse Moon Museum presented in connection with the Faena hotel in Miami Beach. On the East End, readers can see his work at Romany Kramoris Gallery, 41 Main Street in Sag Harbor, and an exhibition at The HUB in Bridgehampton is built around his Woodstock photography and recent paintings, including this portrait of Prince Mario-Max.
Behind the paper stands a publisher the prince was glad to credit. Vicki Schneps-Yunis, his friend, is described as an amazing media powerhouse and a prominent media executive behind Schneps Media. Her leadership in regional journalism and community publishing has built a platform for personalities, artists, entrepreneurs and cultural figures across New York and the Hamptons. In a place where visual art, philanthropy, fashion, entertainment and society meet in the same rooms all season, that kind of platform matters, and this cover shows exactly how it gets used.
Die Titelzeile lautet: „Someday My Prince Will Come!“ Darunter steht klar: Art by Roger Sichel, Volume LXV, Ausgabe 44, Serving the East End, DansPapers.com.
Auf Seite 36 laeuft im Teil Arts and Entertainment das Portraet „Roger ‚MaXi‘ Sichel: From Woodstock to the Moon“, geschrieben von Oliver Peterson.
