NEW YORK – On October 1, 2026, New York hosted an evening that brought diplomacy, business and human connection into one room. The VIP Diplomacy & Leadership Evening, hosted by Ambassador Dr. Vladimir Bozovic and Dame Gloria Starr Kins at Dame Gloria’s residence in New York, welcomed guests from more than 40 countries, with Brahmarishi Dr. Mohanji as guest of honor and keynote speaker.
The guest list alone told the story of the night. Ambassadors, consuls general, consuls and other diplomats stood alongside business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs, as well as representatives of medicine, academia, culture, media, philanthropy and spiritual communities. It was a cross-section of the people who shape decisions in very different fields, gathered not for a formal summit but for direct conversation in a private home.
The evening opened with a film marking the history and centenary of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York. Ambassador Dr. Vladimir Bozovic is President of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York, Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in New York, and Chairman of the Global Consular Leadership Council – United World Leaders. Dame Gloria Starr Kins is President and Founder of Society & Diplomatic Review.
Bozovic paid tribute to Dame Gloria, who opened her home and her heart to the guests. He honored her perseverance, resilience, generosity and energy, describing her 99 years as an inspiration and as a symbol of New York’s endurance, vitality and ability to connect people from across the world. In a city that also celebrates gatherings such as Albert and Charlene opening Monaco’s first summit on philanthropy, the New York evening stood out for the way it turned a residence into a meeting place for the world.
Bozovic also expressed pride in representing Serbia in New York and the United States, and admiration and gratitude for American hospitality, closing that thought with the words: „God bless America.“ He connected the message with Nikola Tesla and Swami Vivekananda, contemporaries who met in New York, where they exchanged scientific and spiritual ideas.
In his keynote address, Mohanji, an internationally recognized spiritual and humanitarian leader, spoke of the world as an interconnected whole. He invited the audience to consider life through roughly 30,000 days, and to use that simple measure to examine priorities. His theme of self-connection – understanding and accepting one’s nature, uniqueness and potential – ran through the address, together with leadership grounded in authenticity, stability and compassion.
On conflict and social division, Mohanji urged leaders to pause and question decisions and their human consequences. Diplomacy, in that framing, is a space for dialogue and for conscious, responsible action. The message connected personal development with selfless service, kindness, nonviolence and responsibility – themes that also echo in coverage of leaders who put service first, from Queen Silvia’s week of the heart in Germany to other gatherings where public roles meet private commitment.
Mohanji also shared experiences of bringing together Indigenous community representatives from Hawaii, Alaska, New Zealand, the Arctic and the Amazon at a gathering in South Africa. He spoke about wisdom keepers, the preservation of culture and nature, and a possible international platform for their knowledge and voices.
Technology formed the third major theme of the evening: connecting diplomacy and business, the responsibilities of leaders in a rapidly changing world, and preserving human connection in the age of emerging technologies. Mohanji warned in his address that dependence on digital devices can deepen isolation, including within families. With AI emerging, he said, people should cultivate compassion, intuition, direct experience and genuine human connection. That balance between innovation and humanity is a question leaders in every sector now face, much as King Carl Gustaf’s Royal Technology Mission explored the human side of innovation in Europe.
A question and answer session and open discussion followed the keynote, moderated by Tijana Ibrahimovic, a New York television journalist, presenter and founder of POP Style TV.
One of the most personal moments came from Dame Gloria Starr Kins herself. As a third-generation immigrant, she shared a family story from the Second World War: her family received assistance from consular services, and visas enabled her relatives to leave Europe, escape Nazi persecution and reach the United States. It was, as the evening made clear, a reminder that consular work can save lives and shape the futures of entire families.
After the program, conversations continued over traditional Indian and Serbian food, in an atmosphere of friendship and cultural exchange. For the Society of Foreign Consuls, the gathering advances an initiative to strengthen cooperation among diplomats, business and leaders across sectors: trust grows through direct dialogue, and responsible leadership translates knowledge, influence and human connection into action for the common good.

NEW YORK – Was für ein Abend!
