Juggling multiple major projects? No problem for these four brothers! Currently, and through October 4, 2025, the Hanke Brothers are still deep into the second edition of their New Classical Music Festival. Nevertheless, the next series of events is already on its way. A fanfare, then, for the Würzburg Master Concerts!
For the third time, the eldest brother, David Hanke, in close consultation with his siblings, is curating this high-caliber format for the Musikalische Akademie Würzburg e.V., the support association of the Würzburg University of Music (Hochschule für Musik Würzburg).
The spirited opener on October 16, 2025, sets the tone for the concerts to follow: Cuban music with a unique twist, discovered and presented by horn player Sarah Willis (Berlin Philharmonic) and her Sarahbanda. The phenomenal result is a fusion of the Caribbean island nation’s greatest hits, original compositions by band members—and the sound of Sarah Willis’s French horn.
The rest of the 2025/26 line-up continues to be just as surprising, diverse, and imaginative: On December 14, 2025, the SWR Vokalensemble and the Freiburger Barockorchester set seasonal, yet practically unheard-of accents in Europe with Christmas music from Latin America.
The 2026 concert year opens with the rebellious Arcis Saxophon Quartett on January 25, presenting their Quirky Nightclub Chronicles. On March 5, 2026, the French Quatuor Agate rehearses a musical uprising with Outlaws. And for the grand finale on May 4, 2026, Julian Prégardien and Anna Gebhardt involve the audience directly in shaping the concert program with their Art Song in Dialogue.
