It is a gigantic endeavor: Keith Knox, Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector, announces that the Department will mail approximately 2,400,000 2022-23 Annual Secured Property Tax Bills on or before Tuesday, November 1, 2022, to all property owners at the addresses shown on the tax roll, pursuant to California Revenue and Taxation Code Sections 2609 and 2610.
A Story by Award Winning Managing Editor His Highness Dr. Prince Mario-Max zu Schaumburg-Lippe.
The law does not relieve a property owner of the responsibility to make timely payments due to failure to receive a tax bill. Owners who have not received a bill by November 1, 2022 should call the Bill Request Line at 1 (213) 893-1103 or visit ttc.lacounty.gov to request a Substitute Secured Property Tax Bill. Knox advises that answers to the great majority of questions – including the amount due and the tax payment history for the past three fiscal years – are on the Los Angeles County Property Tax Portal at propertytax.lacounty.gov, and the toll-free Property Tax Information Line at 1 (888) 807-2111 offers automated information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The bill has two payment stubs. The 1st installment is due Tuesday, November 1, 2022 and becomes delinquent by the close of business on Monday, December 12, 2022 – since December 10 falls on a Saturday in 2022, the delinquency date extends by law to the next business day. The 2nd installment is due Wednesday, February 1, 2023 and becomes delinquent by the close of business on Monday, April 10, 2023. Late payments draw a 10 percent penalty on each installment and a $10 cost on the 2nd installment per state law.
Payment options: online at propertytax.lacounty.gov (free by eCheck, each eCheck limited to $999,999.99; credit and debit cards limited to $99,999.99 including a cost of 2.22 percent, minimum $1.49), by telephone at 1 (888) 473-0835 for current year taxes, by mail to Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector, Post Office Box 54018, Los Angeles, CA 90054-0018 using the enclosed envelope and payment stub, or in person at 225 North Hill Street, First Floor Lobby, Los Angeles, CA 90012, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding county holidays. The Department cautions that the USPS only postmarks certain mail, explains how to avoid penalties by understanding postmarks at ttc.lacounty.gov, does not recommend online banking or bill payment services, and offers an email notification service at ttc.lacounty.gov/eNotify for deadline reminders and news.
Rate an.
