Yesterday Will Be Great release new single Little Blue Flower and announce new album The Weather Is Fantastic, out on April 8th, 2022 via Blooms Recordings

The world is falling apart, so much so that the future would often seem to be behind us. The Italian band Yesterday Will be Great goes on with the release of the first album The Weather Is Fantastic, recorded under the supervision of Nicola Manzan (Bologna Violenta, Ronin), to be released on CD and digital on April 8th, 2022 via Blooms Recordings. The title of the album fills a dystopian concept with irony: „Speaking of the weather, chatting, is typical of that superficiality that is destroying us, but of which we feel the need„.

Following last year’s excerpt The Diamond’s Issue, the album is launched by the new single Little Blue Flower, available on all digital platforms today February 25th, 2022, transposition into music of the strength of a small flower that borns among the cracks in the concrete.

Founded in 2017, Yesterday Will be Great – also known by the acronym YWBG – debuted with the EP Y in 2019, often playing live, even supporting international artists like Minami Deutsch. In the meantime, several things have changed, both in the sound and in the band’s line-up. The Weather Is Fantastic took shape in the second half of 2021, mainly from improvisation, and was oriented for the first time to a full instrumental but no less communicative work. The dialogue between the instruments flows without the word filter. „Instrumental music exists in a deeper and probably less immediate dimension, and what we were interested in was to move away from any scheme and immerse ourselves in more intimate feelings. Less is more„.

The guiding light is a post-rock background, with elective affinities such as Mogwai or Sigur Rós. However, there are no stylistic boundaries and there are instead many different influences, from psychedelia to alt-rock, from shoegaze to ambient music. At the same time, there is a somewhat proudly do it yourself attitude, confirmed by the recording sessions held almost entirely live at the PMS Studio in Ravenna, without editing the imperfections. „We freed ourselves from any coldness in favor of greater humanity. The idea of ​​the live recordings was provided to us by Manzan and convinced us so much that we later decided to do very little post-production and leave the possible dirt of the tracks: listen to our imperfections„. So, the music of the trio reveals purity, warmth and minimalism, cinematic suggestion and rampage. „We are what we play. It’s our energy„.

Yesterday Will be Great are always led by deus ex machina Simone Ricci on the visionary guitars (ex Kisses From Mars and already active with the solo project The Nude, as well as artistic co-producer of the label Blooms Recordings), and completed by Daniele Mambelli, powerful and versatile on drums, and by the experienced new entry Giuseppe De Domenico on bass. Among the sources of inspiration, for the three musicians, there are Fight Club and Kubrick’s movies, books by Bukowski, Richler and Eugenides, landscapes by Hopper, Monet and Van Gogh, as well as photography. The melancholy and enigmatic pic on the album cover, taken by Ricci himself, represents the lack of something: why is that chair there, and who is missing to sit on it? Maybe it will be possible to find out, or imagine it, by listening to The Weather Is Fantastic.

Die Welt bricht auseinander, so sehr, dass die Zukunft oft hinter uns zu liegen scheint. Die italienische Band Yesterday Will be Great setzt mit der Veröffentlichung des ersten Albums The Weather Is Fantastic fort , das unter der Aufsicht von Nicola Manzan (Bologna Violenta, Ronin) aufgenommen wurde und am 8. April 2022 über Blooms Recordings auf CD und digital veröffentlicht wird . Der Titel des Albums füllt ein dystopisches Konzept mit Ironie: „ Vom Wetter zu sprechen, zu plaudern, ist typisch für jene Oberflächlichkeit, die uns zerstört, deren wir aber das Bedürfnis verspüren “.

Nach dem letztjährigen Auszug The Diamond’s Issue wird das Album mit der neuen Single Little Blue Flower gestartet, die am 25. Februar 2022 auf allen digitalen Plattformen erhältlich ist und die Kraft einer kleinen Blume in Musik umsetzt, die zwischen den Rissen im Beton geboren wird.

Yesterday Will be Great – auch bekannt unter dem Akronym YWBG – wurde 2017 gegründet und debütierte 2019 mit der EP Y , spielte oft live und unterstützte sogar internationale Künstler wie Minami Deutsch. Inzwischen hat sich einiges geändert, sowohl im Sound als auch in der Besetzung der Band. The Weather Is Fantastic nahm in der zweiten Hälfte des Jahres 2021 vor allem aus der Improvisation heraus Gestalt an und orientierte sich erstmals an einem voll  instrumentalen , aber nicht weniger kommunikativen Werk. Der Dialog zwischen den Instrumenten fließt ohne Wortfilter. „ Instrumentalmusik existiert in einer tieferen und wahrscheinlich weniger unmittelbaren Dimension, und was uns interessierte, war, uns von jedem Schema zu entfernen und in intimere Gefühle einzutauchen. Weniger ist mehr“. Die einzigen hörbaren Stimmen sind die im Hintergrund am Ende des Tracks  Overblues , die einigen Unbekannten gehören, die auf einen trivialen Dialog über das Wetter und so weiter bedacht sind, von dem der Titel des Albums stammt.

Das Leitbild ist ein Post-Rock- Background, mit Wahlverwandtschaften wie Mogwai oder Sigur Rós. Stilistische Grenzen gibt es jedoch keine, dafür aber viele unterschiedliche Einflüsse, von Psychedelia bis Alt-Rock, von Shoegaze bis Ambient Music. Gleichzeitig gibt es eine etwas stolze Do-it-yourself-Attitüde, die durch die Aufnahmesitzungen bestätigt wird, die fast ausschließlich live im PMS-Studio in Ravenna stattfanden, ohne die Unvollkommenheiten zu bearbeiten. „ Wir haben uns von jeglicher Kälte zugunsten einer größeren Menschlichkeit befreit. Die Idee der Live-Aufnahmen wurde uns von Manzan zur Verfügung gestellt und hat uns so überzeugt, dass wir uns später entschieden haben, sehr wenig Postproduktion zu machen und den möglichen Schmutz der Tracks zu lassen: Hören Sie auf unsere Unvollkommenheiten“. So offenbart die Musik des Trios Reinheit, Wärme und Minimalismus, filmische Suggestion und Amoklauf. „ Wir sind, was wir spielen. Es ist unsere Energie “.

Yesterday Will be Great werden stets von deus ex machina Simone Ricci an den visionären  Gitarren (ex Kisses From Mars und bereits aktiv beim Soloprojekt The Nude, sowie künstlerischer Co-Produzent des Labels Blooms Recordings) angeführt und von Daniele komplettiert Mambelli , kraftvoll und vielseitig am Schlagzeug , und vom erfahrenen Neuzugang Giuseppe De Domenico am Bass. Zu den Inspirationsquellen der drei Musiker gehört der Fight Clubund Kubricks Filme, Bücher von Bukowski, Richler und Eugenides, Landschaften von Hopper, Monet und Van Gogh sowie Fotografie. Das melancholische und rätselhafte Bild auf dem Albumcover, das von Ricci selbst aufgenommen wurde, stellt das Fehlen von etwas dar: Warum ist dieser Stuhl dort und wer fehlt, um darauf zu sitzen? Vielleicht kann man es herausfinden oder sich vorstellen, indem man The Weather Is Fantastic hört .
