Check out What Does It Take, a brand new podcast series hosted by professional BMX rider and eight times Flatland World Champion Matthias Dandois.

Matthias has spent a lifetime riding and travelling and along the way has picked up multiple world championship titles, starred in a French romcom movie and rocked the world of BMX flatland with his unique creative style on his pegs.

Now he finds himself on the opposite side of the mic as the host to this brand new podcast, in which he interviews top action sports personalities from all around the world to find out What Does It Take to get to the top and stay there.

“The whole point of this podcast was to try and find out what it takes to become such a spectacular human being and incredible athlete, then inspire a new generation to do the same,” explains Matthias. “It is not just posting clips on Instagram,” Matthias says of his subjects’ trajectories. “It takes dedication, blood, sweat and tears.”

The first episode of What Does It Take launched on podcast apps around the world on April 1, 2020, with a new episode dropping every Wednesday for the next ten weeks.

Matthias’s first interview is with the Scottish pro trials rider and MTB pro Danny MacAskill. Danny shot to fame in 2009 with the release of his mind-blowing edit, Inspired Bicycles, which by 2016 had been viewed by over 37 million fans. This and his following edits would make him one of the world’s biggest YouTube stars ever!

But What Does It Take?

Don’t expect Matthias to dwell on the Daniel’s well-known achievements; Matthias’ methodology draws on the common tool kit of a hack as well as his insider knowledge of the pro circuit: “I have done thousands of interviews in my career and I didn’t want to ask the same questions to these athletes,” says Matthias, who has been friends with Danny for years. “I tried to use my knowledge and background as an athlete to be a different type of journalist.”
