After being announced towards the end of 2020, the new Andorra Multisport Festival has successfully kicked into gear with the World Triathlon Winter Championships Andorra, Andorra 21 Ports and Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees having taken place. All eyes are now on the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees and IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra taking place later this week in Andorra La Vella. Hosting a combined total of over 2000 athletes over the five unique events.
Launching the Andorra Multisport Festival was the World Triathlon Winter Championships Andorra which took place earlier in the year on March 19 -21. The event saw Norway produce an incredible performance in the team category, grabbing three of the six gold medals in both the Elite and Junior Relays. And it was one to remember for Hans Christian Tungesvik (Norway) and Sandra Mairhofer (Italy) claiming victory and walking away with the bragging rights in the elite category. Next up on the Andorra Multisport Festival schedule was the Andorra 21 Ports which took place last week from June 22 -26. Greeted by perfect weather conditions, more than 120 cycling enthusiasts took to the start line in Andorra La Vella. Attracting an international audience, the countries most represented were Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Andorra, Belgium and the United Arab Emirates. The Trail 100 Andorra-Pyrenees took place last week on June 24 – 27. The event took the adventurous trail runners through the mighty Pyrenees on courses ranging from 7.5 km to 125 km in Ordino. More than 800 participants from 19 different countries took part in the event. With Francesco Cuco (Mexico) and Clàudia Tremps (Spain) taking top spots in the Men’s and Women’s 125km Elite races. The Andorra Multisport Festival excitement continues this week in La Massana, with the Andorra MTB Classic-Pyrenees, an exclusive four-day stage race by the organizers of the world-famous Epic Series of mountain bike events. This event will take place on June 30 to July 03. Riders will be faced by a challenging, technical yet enjoyable multi-day event.
Finally, to wrap up this unique festival, the IRONMAN 70.3 Andorra will be held on July 4, 2021. Consisting of a 1,9 km swim course in one of Europe’s highest lakes, a 90,1 km bike course that leads to the top of the legendary Coll de la Gallina and the La Peguera passes. And a fast three-loop 21.1km run course near the Valira River.
