JENN LEE Marks 10 Years with a Decade-Defining Show at London Fashion Week

Celebrating ten years of boundary-pushing design, JENN LEE returned to London Fashion Week for the fifth consecutive year with a landmark anniversary showcase. Staged at Village Underground – an iconic nightlife venue and cultural hub that epitomises London’s subcultural energy – the collection revisited and reimagined some of the designer’s most emblematic creations from the past decade.

Known for combining deconstructed design with philosophical aesthetics, this season’s conceptual inspiration is drawn from the 18th-century Eastern literary classic, Dream of the Red Chamber. This classical inspiration materialises in a deep appreciation for East Asian sartorial sensuality.

Two standout looks in the collection were handcrafted by a qipao artisan, preserving the timeless artistry of traditional craftsmanship. From the precise starch-setting that shapes the form to the painstakingly hand-tied knot buttons, these pieces embody dedication and skill, with delicate piping and hand-finished seams refining the silhouette. An elegant fusion of heritage and sophistication, this is Oriental beauty at its most exquisite.

The anniversary collection marks a shift in aesthetic direction, moving from raw-edged deconstruction toward exaggerated tailoring and gothic sophistication. One highlight of the collection was the Fan Dress. Built on a foundation of clean, structured tailoring, JENN LEE turns layered pleats into a homage to Eastern aesthetics, evoking the delicate folds of paper fans and folding screens, where stillness harbours a quiet strength. Each shoulder strap features masterfully hand-crafted dragon and phoenix frog buttons by a nationally celebrated artisan, boldly breaking free from their traditional placement. Once symbols of power and auspiciousness, these ornamental fastenings are reimagined as tattoo-like visual motifs, creating a compelling tension between elegance and rebellion.

Another stand-out piece was a square-shoulder jacket that reconstructed a 1970s vintage leather piece—defined by its exaggerated structure and handmade leather knot fastenings. The look conveyed a vampiric edge, with sleek tailoring that exuded strength and dark sensuality.

Crossover Fusion: The Collision of Acupuncture, Body, and Fashion

Kicking off the show is a live performance by contemporary dancer Liu I-Ling, whose movement and mood mirror the vulnerability of the pieces in the collection. The brand will also continue its use of acupuncture needles as a fashion statement, applied by SALIENT CLASS. JENN LEE’s bold aesthetic has always blended naturally with London’s history of subversive punk fashion, making it the perfect backdrop.

The show’s immersive environment will be incorporated, with UPKO, utilising a curated selection of their signature BDSM products, as well as genuine Italian leather and quality hardware, which perfectly complement the high-end and unique aesthetic of the collection. JENN LEE transformed fetish items into fashion accessories for the show, infusing the dark atmosphere with a dangerous, provocative, and ambiguous tension, achieving a delicate balance between erotic aesthetics and fashion language.

The Intersection of Elegant Heritage and Deconstructed Aesthetics

The hair for this season was handled by DENNIS FEI, inspired by the dual identity of vampires—both inheriting the elegance of an ancient lineage and possessing the rebellious decadence of a street wanderer. The hair shifts between refined and messy, creating an atmosphere where dark poetry and soul intersect.

Kite Chuang took on the role of head makeup artist and continued to build on this tension, allowing the models to develop the narrative of the collection further. The black and red cracked lips echoed the garment details, while the acupuncture needles on the face became beautiful accessories, reflecting the depth of emotions through the sensation of pain. To create a sheer, translucent skin effect, the team used SUQQU’s Radiant Cream Foundation and Smooth Concealer as a base, paired with SUQQU’s Gel Eyeliner Pencil and 3D Waterproof Mascara, to outline a deep gaze that is both fragile and resilient.

Taiwanese Tech Platform Debuts at London Fashion Week: The First Digital Fashion 3D Phygital Showroom

In tandem with the brand’s 10th anniversary show, JENN LEE collaborated with Portal:M to launch a public-facing phygital exhibition during London Fashion Week. The showroom focused on the brand’s classic zipper element, using it as a narrative metaphor for „protection,“ „boundaries,“ and „emotional tension.“ By combining digital technology with it, viewers were invited not just to „see“ the garments, but to „experience“ the emotional JENN LEE brand universe.

Notably, the exhibition also featured a VR virtual space where viewers could enter the JENN LEE temple, which fused Eastern heritage with a gothic atmosphere, through virtual reality.
