Palm Beach is getting a season opener with real rhythm. On Wednesday, December 9, 2026, Havana Nights returns to The Beach Club Palm Beach at 6 p.m., and the second annual fundraiser for the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County lands with a co-chair pairing built to fill the room: Jean and Martin Shafiroff alongside Beth and Dr. Robert Fishel.
A Story by Award Winning Managing Editor His Highness Dr. Prince Mario-Max zu Schaumburg-Lippe.
That is not a ceremonial title. Jean Shafiroff has been carrying this Center’s message from one coast of the social season to the other. Just weeks ago she was championing the same Center and its Old Bags Luncheon at the Baker House 1650 reception during the Hamptons Film Festival. December in Palm Beach is the next stop on the same generous tour, and this time she brings her husband Martin into the co-chair seats with her.
The theme reaches straight back to the Havana nightclubs of the 1950s. Guests can expect authentic Cuban-inspired cuisine, handcrafted cocktails, live Latin music, dancing and a run of specialty experiences, all staged inside one of Palm Beach’s most storied rooms. The Palm Beach Daily News social calendar lists the evening as by invitation and sums up the dress code in a single happy instruction: Breezy Cuban Elegance or 50s glam.
Anyone who loves a dance floor with a dress code will feel at home here. It is the same joyful logic that makes a great ball night linger in the memory long after the last song – music first, formality with a smile, and a room full of people who dressed up because the night deserved it.
Havana Nights is more than a party date. The evening opens the Center’s 2026-27 fundraising season, a campaign that builds through the winter and culminates with the Old Bags Luncheon on Wednesday, February 17, 2027. December 9 is the overture. February, when the Luncheon takes over the calendar, is the finale – and the supporters who raise a glass at The Beach Club in December are the same community that carries the season home.
The first sponsors have already stepped forward, and their titles tell you exactly where the money goes. Ron and Carrie Kaminski serve as the Mental Health Emissary sponsor, and Cindy Karen serves as the Mental Health Hero Sponsor. In Palm Beach, where a sponsor line can be pure decoration, these two are a statement of purpose.
Here is the number that anchors the glamour: 1961. The Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County has been working since that year, which makes it one of Palm Beach County’s longest-serving behavioral health organizations. In the decades since, it has served more than 1 million clients.
Today the Center runs 8 core programs, spanning behavioral health, counseling, parenting education, substance misuse recovery and family support. Its philosophy is plain and powerful: families should be the center of the community, and the center of every family should be a healthy connection. Just as important, its care stays accessible regardless of a family’s financial circumstances.
Donors can check the receipts, too. The Center is accredited by CARF International and by Nonprofits First for Excellence in Nonprofit Management – the quiet credentials that tell a sponsor the generosity lands in careful hands.
Jean Shafiroff’s benefit calendar runs from New York to the Hamptons to Palm Beach, and the pattern never changes: show up, bring friends, and make the evening count for somebody else. It is the spirit she brought to the Mardi Gras benefit stage earlier this year, and it is the spirit she now brings home to The Beach Club. Beth and Dr. Robert Fishel give the night its local anchor – a Palm Beach pairing for a Palm Beach institution that has served the county for 65 years.
So the formula for December 9 writes itself: a 1950s nightclub fantasy, a Latin band, Cuban flavors on the table, and a cause that has quietly held families together since 1961.
Februar 2027, im Old Bags Luncheon.
