AdeY – Unseen Amsterdam

AdeY – Unseen Amsterdam

Unseen Amsterdam is the leading annual event for contemporary photography showcasing artists, both emerging and established, who are pushing the boundaries of the medium. The multi-faceted event brings together the international photography community to discuss and debate the future of photography and aspires to provide novel and diverse approaches to engage with photography.

Unseen Amsterdam returns for its eighth edition from 20 – 22 September 2019.
AdeY (1981) is a Swedish/British multidisciplinary visual artist dancing between photography and performance. His work captures those little moments of social oppression, humor, isolation, anxiety and depression. It recognises that we not only change in relationship to our environment but that our environment adapts to what we become. His images depict imbalances evident in contemporary society today by directly addressing issues of gender, normative behavior and how society forces us to choose one direction or path. The subjects show our vulnerability, loneliness, strengths and expectations whilst highlighting the correlation between body and space

Fotogalleri Vasli Souza

Fotogalleri Vasli Souza / Vasli Souza is a privately run gallery with an international approach influenced by the background of Marcio Souza from Brazil and Rasmus Vasli from Norway. They both studied Fine Art Photography at the University of the Arts London, where they built their network. The gallery is located in the basement of an old factory building at Gustav Adolfs Torg, in the city centre of Malmö. They have also recently opened a new space in Oslo. The aim of both spaces is to show up-and-coming, often young, contemporary artists from a diverse background. Since opening in 2013, some of the artists exhibited include Ren Hang (CH), Zanele Muholi (ZA), Sami Parkkinen (FI), Pixy Liao (CH), Silin Liu (CH), Lissa Rivera (US) and Nelli Palomäki (FI).
