Previously Unfinished Track “What It Should Be Like” — Out Now Bonus track from the 25th anniversary reissue of ‚Just Enough Bright,‘ arriving April 10 via Thirty Something Records
Remixed by original producer J. Robbins and remastered by Dan Coutant, the definitive vinyl edition arrives April 10 via Thirty Something Records and features a newly recorded 11th track from the original album sessions
Time Spent Driving have released “What It Should Be Like,” a long-lost track newly completed more than two decades after it was first written. Out now on all streaming platforms, the song serves as a bonus track on the upcoming deluxe vinyl and digital reissue of the band’s beloved 2002 album Just Enough Bright, due April 10 via Thirty Something Records.

Originally drafted around the time of the band’s initial breakup, “What It Should Be Like” remained unfinished for years — until recently, when the band returned to the studio to finally bring it to life. The result is something that feels both true to the band’s early era and unmistakably present: a rare bridge between past and present.
“I had some early drafts of this song right around the time the band originally broke up, but we never got around to finishing it,” says frontman Jon Cattivera. “It’s a verbatim snapshot of one specific night hanging out with a friend I met because she was singing a Jimmy Eat World song while bagging my groceries. It was just refreshing to be around someone who was so in love with life.”
“A few years ago, we finally went back into the studio and tracked it specifically for the 25th-anniversary vinyl reissue of Just Enough Bright. It’s about what a positive, real connection should actually feel like, and I think long-time fans will appreciate where this one sits alongside the old material.”
The track was recorded in 2024 at Compound Recording with producer Olav Tabatabai, and stands as the only newly recorded addition to the reissue — effectively transforming it into both a retrospective and a subtle continuation of the band’s legacy.
Originally released in 2002, Just Enough Bright has endured as a defining document of early-2000s indie-emo, balancing the urgency of punk with melodic, introspective songwriting. For its 25th anniversary, the album has been remixed by original producer J. Robbins and remastered by Dan Coutant (Sun Room Audio), offering renewed depth and clarity while preserving the emotional core that has resonated with listeners for more than two decades.
Tracks 1–10 were originally recorded at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco in January 2002, capturing a band on the rise within the Bay Area’s vibrant punk and hardcore scene. Formed in 1998, Time Spent Driving built a dedicated international following through relentless touring — logging over 150 shows across the U.S. and Europe — and a series of releases that helped define their era.
Now, with the addition of “What It Should Be Like,” the Just Enough Bright reissue closes a long-open chapter, offering fans both a restored classic and a “new” song born from the same moment in time.
