Patrick McMullan Hosts Glittering Southampton VIP Premiere for Artist Gerard Byrne

The Hamptons’ art and social elite gathered in Southampton this past weekend as legendary society photographer Patrick McMullan, with PR maven Norah Lawlor, hosted a dazzling VIP reception for acclaimed Irish artist Gerard Byrne.

Held at the elegant Slattery Gallery, the event marked Byrne’s first solo exhibition in the Hamptons, and it quickly became the talk of the East End. Guests stepped into a luminous afternoon where Byrne’s canvases—landscapes and figurative works infused with his modern Impressionist vision—glowed in natural light streaming through the gallery’s windows.

McMullan, whose lens has immortalized the world’s most glamorous figures, described the show as “a luminous exploration of light, form, and memory.” For him, celebrating Byrne’s arrival in the Hamptons art scene was a seamless extension of his lifelong dedication to culture and community.

Among those mingling were John Slattery, His Highness Prince Mario Max Schaumburg-Lippe, Agata Byrne, Damien Roman, Jean Shafiroff, Leesa Rowland, Melanie Wambold, Nancy Stone, Leila Pinto, Ron Burkhardt, Sophie Rose Slattery, Nicole Salmasi, Lucia Hwong Gordon, James Byrnes, and Noreen Donovan. The vibrant crowd of collectors, curators, and tastemakers affirmed Byrne’s warm welcome to the East End.

The Slattery Gallery, founded by John Slattery, continues to establish itself as a must-visit destination for contemporary and post-war art in Southampton Village. With Gallery Director Damien Roman’s expertise, the space blends Irish artistry with American modernism, offering a refined cultural stage for Byrne’s debut.

Byrne, celebrated internationally for his evocative palette and expressive brushwork, has works featured in global collections including the Irish Government and the Citadelle Art Museum in Texas. His Southampton premiere underscores the international breadth of his reputation and his deepening connection with American collectors.

The exhibition will be on view through October 13, 2025, giving art lovers the chance to experience Byrne’s unique fusion of Impressionist spirit and contemporary realism.

Prince Mario-Max: „It was a night where Hamptons style met Irish artistry, and the result was nothing short of unforgettable.“
