Pierre Joel’s photographs are erotic ambiguities
With his symbolic, some times surrealist works, he explores the great mystery of the human body: simple nudity allows him to drop taboos and express himself on his photographic journey. He shows women : some appear as seductive icons, some as frail creatures. However all of them remain ambigous and elusive.
Pierre Joel experiments just as much with bodies as he does with the medium itself. He forgoes digital editing and urns to the roots and to the pioneers of photography: By using mirrors, glass panes, polished metal surfaces and other materials, he creates effects that are characteristic to his work
His pictures thus acquire a mysterious aura and authenticity, which are what makes his work so special.
