Aspinal of London invites you to a celebration of the golden age of theatre, proudly unveiling our collection for Autumn Winter 17. We have re-explored the Aspinal classics, while seeking new inspiration from perhaps the most elegant eras of our London West End theatrical history. The red carpets are rolled out awaiting the arrival of stylish ladies and gentlemen in glamorous evening dress, whilst the orchestra tunes up in the pit, and the beautiful deep red velvet curtain
rises to reveal a spectacular stage.
Aspinal’s choice of fabrics are harmoniously plush, sumptuous and dramatic this season, with a colour palette for Autumn Winter featuring rich berry and scarlet red, navy, gold, blusher, grape, peacock, chanterelle, redwood and tan through to black and ivory. We return to a period of Britain’s incredible theatrical talent, dazzling performances, uplifting operetta and of course, the sparkling wit of Oscar Wilde. Mingled with top hats, smoking jackets and fluttering feather fans, Aspinal dresses up and adds personality to classic pieces with snake and leopard prints, patent, Aspinal’s signature deep shine croc and embossed flower textures. Also influenced by this bygone age of theatrical glamour and plush luxury, the distinctive velvet of vintage theatre seats are a strong influence, with Aspinal’s favourite bags popping up in opulent reds and chic blacks.

Aspinal of London has partnered with fellow heritage brand Hand & Lock to celebrate 250 Years of Embroidery. Refashioning one of our classic icons, the Mayfair Bag, known for its timeless take on a vintage style, we have added a delicate poppy and butterfly motif. The perfect addition to the Aspinal of London archive, the Poppy Mayfair Bag evokes memories of summers gone by, playing homage to British artistry and culture.
This unique bag is currently on display at the Victoria and Albert Museum and will be auctioned at Sotheby’s to raise money for Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QUEST).
