Chandler Steele, 15, just walked in New York Fashion Week for what was literally his first modeling debut! In many ways, Chandler is an ordinary 10 th grade honor student at Northwest High School in Germantown, Maryland in the Washington DC metro area.
But last week, at the height of New York Fashion Week, Chandler donned high fashion outfits while walking the runways and posing for photo shoots. He was hired by Kenn Gray Hayes, designer of The Fynnton Gray Collection, to represent the collection on the runway. Chandler’s graceful movements and classically structured facial features are unusual for 5’ 11” and still growing, soon to be 16 year old.
While on the runway, Chandler is all grace, style, and business. But at home, this budding fashion icon has a bedroom floor strewn with a combination of clean and dirty clothes more typical of teenage boys. Chandler’s interest in clothing design started at an early age. When he was 6 years old, he expressed an interest in designing clothes to wear as he was unsatisfied with the choices available in stores. His childhood concerns with style, colors and textures were admittedly unusual, but have led him to this turning point in which he will be designing his own clothing line next year. He intends to focus on the 15 to 25-year-old age group of all genders. We can’t wait to see what styles Chandler has planned!
