Ein junger Mann kommt in ein Dorf am Weißen Meer. Er ist auf der Suche nach einem Mädchen, das ohne Abschied von ihm gegangen ist. Ein alter Einheimischer – der Großvater des Mädchens – verspricht dem jungen Mann, ihn zu ihr zu führen. Alexandra Streljanajas bedächtiger Film zeichnet ein atmosphärisches Bild vom Norden Russlands und verflechtet darin die Suche der Protagonisten nach der Bedeutung des Lebens, nach der Vergangenheit und den Sünden, die sie begangen haben.

A young man arrives in a village on the White Sea. He comes in search of a girl who ran away from the city without saying goodbye. An old man from among the locals offers to show him the way. Neither the young man nor the old imagine what trials await them along the way.

Alexandra Strelyanaya (b. 1978, Leningrad) completed her studies in cinematography at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television in 2005, receiving a degree in direction there two years later. As a director, screenwriter and cinematographer she has made several films which were screened and received awards at a number of festivals and showcases.
