Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY

Glaswegian designer, illustrator and radical creative Charles Jeffrey, 27, is – to quote Dazed – ‘the ringleader of London’s next generation of club kids.‘
The meteoric rise of the Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY label is best encapsulated by Tim Blanks for Business of Fashion: „Jeffrey is speaking to young London the way Alexander McQueen spoke to his generation.“

The past year has seen Jeffrey become one of the most talked-about names in fashion – with an LVMH Prize nomination, solo art exhibition at London’s NOW Gallery and the British Emerging Talent prize at 2017’s Fashion Awards under his belt.
His brand Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY encompasses a fashion label and a cult club night, each informing the other. The LOVERBOY night forms the primary research for Jeffrey’s collections, with his tribe of friends and creative collaborators – artists, performers, musicians, drag queens and poets – contributing to the egalitarian spirit of the brand.
Whilst studying for his BA in Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins, Charles was invited to hold his birthday party at legendary cult East London venue VF Dalston (Vogue Fabrics). After the event became one of the most talked-about happenings in London, he began the LOVERBOY series to fund his MA course at CSM. After undertaking an internship in the couture atelier at Christian Dior, Jeffrey’s work was spotted by Lulu Kennedy MBE. He showed for three seasons as part of Fashion East’s MAN line-up in partnership with Topman.
His SS18 collection, shown in June 2017, was his first independent showcase. In her review for US Vogue, Sarah Mower commented: „Charles Jeffrey is currently the upholder of all that is human, creative and cheerful about British fashion.“
In his capacity as a stylist, Jeffrey works across special projects for some of the world’s leading fashion publications. As Senior Contributing Fashion Editor for LOVE, he has styled the front-of-book pages of the past three issues. Other commissions have included the Creative Direction of a Vivienne Westwood archive story for AnOther Man, Maison Margiela retrospective shoot (in collaboration with John Galliano) for LOVE, as well as stories for Buffalo Zine and CANDY.

Jeffrey’s illustrations are sold via SHOWstudio.
Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY is carried by stores including Dover Street Market (in London, New York & Ginza), Boon The Shop, Rare Market and Joyce. February 2018 will see Jeffrey introduce his first womenswear capsule collection exclusively for MATCHESFASHION.COM.
